In addition to our Saturday morning core, WPSD-TV offers two programs on Sunday mornings that are directed to the 13 to 16 year age segment.  “Real Life 101” telecast at 9:30 a.m. provides an entertaining and informative look at career options that youth can consider.  “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures” follows at 10:00 a.m. and provides close up looks at wildlife and their habitats.  The relationship between humans and the environment is also emphasized.

WPSD also airs children’s programming on the 24-7 Weather Channel (Digital Channel 6-3).  At 12 noon on Saturdays, “The Outdoorsman with Buck McNeely” offers insight into sportsmanship and its relationship to the environment.  At 12:30 p.m. another episode of “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures” is broadcast.  “The American Athlete” follows at 1:00 p.m. Byron Allen interviews successful athletes who share their lives stories and strategies for successful living.

In compliance with Federal Communications Commission regulations, any changes or pre-emptions of Children’s Core Programming will be publicized through schedule postings and on-air announcements.

On Saturday, March 8, 2008, THE AMERICAN ATHLETE will be pre-empt due to SEC basketball coverage on WPSD-WX.

Programming will resume its normal schedule on Sunday, March 9, 2008.

WPSD-TV also broadcasts 30 minutes “Connecting with Kids” specials throughout the school year.  These programs feature topics that challenge today’s youth and their parents.  Additionally, two “Connecting with Kids” features are included in the 10:00 p.m. newscast each week.

WPSD-TV invites input from our viewers on our efforts to provide special programming to children and youth.  If you wish to review the documentation of these outreach efforts, contact Dwayne Stice at (270) 415-1900 Mondays through Fridays for 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or e-mail dstice@wpsdtv.com.  The files are available for public inspection at the WPSD-TV studios located at 100 Television Lane, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.
